North of Scotland
THE NORTH COUNTY:
In 1961 the four North Districts, (Highlands, Central, North East and Tayside ) formed the ” North of Scotland County Lawn Tennis Association”. This was to enable the North of Scotland to select teams to represent the county in British County Competitions. There are currently 42 British Counties competing in various age group events – ranging from 9 years up to 70 years. Tayside is the largest of the four Districts within the North County, followed by the North East, Central and then Highlands.
The North of Scotland LTA oversees and selects the County teams from the four integral Districts, along with spearheading various inter county tournaments and organising junior talent identification squads, coupled with promoting the sport and competition in it.
The North of Scotland LTA has its own Committee. The Committee selection process is one representative from each of the four Districts, a Performance Convener and a President. At all times this Committee works towards assisting all of the Districts in their aim to extend and promote tennis to one and all.
