TENNIS TAYSIDE’S STRATEGY AND VISION FOR THE FUTURE

The Board of Tennis Tayside frequently review their strategic aims, the goals they strive to achieve are towards the enhancement of increasing the popularity of tennis within the Tayside region.

A list of the core areas are set out below and hopefully this should allow you to understand Tennis Tayside’s vision for the future of the game of tennis, which includes all our clubs and their affiliated members within the clubs.

Tennis Tayside is the governing body of tennis in the Tayside region and its’ main objective roles are:

- To promote and develop the game of tennis by assisting clubs in creating a welcoming
environment to attract more newcomers, especially juniors, along with creating an
infrastructure of inter club competitive leagues, suitable to everyone of all standards.
This allows existing club members a further enjoyable tennis experience and helps retain
   them as club members.

- To strengthen school links with as many clubs as possible. This avenue enables clubs to grow
their membership base and increase their subscription income. Working with schools also
allows clubs to raise their profile and reputation in the community.

- To run Junior Talent Identification Days which are crucial towards growing tennis. Tennis
Tayside actively encourages the clubs to highlight their talented juniors and get them to attend
these sessions. They are supervised by fully qualified coaches who are nominated by Tennis
Tayside. This system provides the best young players to further their development.

- To appoint a fully qualified Development Coach to assist promising juniors in their entry
towards competitive tournament play and to increase junior competitions between clubs. This
is the most effective way for juniors to improve their play and for the coaches to see how they
   are improving.

- To ensure that Tennis Tayside are able to field two teams to compete in the Scottish Inter
District Championships, staged at Kilgraston. There are two age groups – 11 to 13 and
15 to 17 year olds, each team having four girls and four boys.

 - To seek and assist potential new coaches along with guiding them through the new
qualification structure. Financial assistance may be available, from Tennis Tayside, if the
applicant is successful in receiving accreditation.

- To explore and work towards a closer relationship with all the local authorities to raise the
awareness of tennis. The authorities involved are, Angus, North East, Dundee District Council
   and Perth and Kinross Council.

Tennis Tayside actively welcomes productive volunteers to sit on their Board, to be a Director of the company. There is a minimum of four and a maximum of six meetings a year, excluding the Annual General Meeting which is held at the end of September.

On all occasions Tennis Tayside tries to conduct it’s business in an open and transparent manner and always bears in mind that it is accountable to the affiliated members of the clubs within the district of Tayside.

In conclusion, this strategic plan presents a challenge to Tennis Tayside, but it also heralds a future where all who wish to play and enjoy tennis, at whatever level, are encouraged and helped to do so by a continuing expansion of everyone ‘Working Together’.
