Tennis Tayside runs a number of leagues which run during the summer and winter months and this year we are delighted to welcome Keillor Graphics as our new League Sponsor.

The Junior League is for teams of four players (16 & under), any combination of girls and boys, and players play a mixture of singles and doubles matches.

The majority of the the Adult leagues are for teams of six players who play four sets of doubles, normally two sets against their opposite number and one set against the other two, (this four set format is a trial for this year).  The exception to this is the relatively new  Singles / Doubles League which is now running as one of the Adult leagues this season, see below.

There is a new score sheet for the Adult Doubles Leagues Tennis Tayside Doubles League Scoresheet 2018 and also new for this season is a new 4 Player League score sheet Tennis Tayside 4-Player Doubles League Scoresheet 2018

An additional Rule for the 6 Player Leagues is for the situation when one team has the full 3 couples and the other team only 2, the following would apply :-

The Draw is the same as usual in terms of the order of the match with the absent 3rd couple meaning that there is always one of the opposition’s couples sitting off.  A total of eight sets would be played with the 3 couple team getting all the set points they won, plus the 6 that the 2 couple team could not contest.  The 2 couple team would only get the set points that they won.  Scoring the sets is as per the new Rules in the 2018 Handbook.
If for any reason both teams cannot field the full three couples and therefore have two couples each they should play two sets against each couple and score one rubber point for each set won.

Winter Indoor League  2018 – 19

The Winter Indoor League is mixed doubles and is a less formal League than the Summer ones and generally runs from the end of October through to the beginning of April the following year.  David Lloyd at Monifieth is the original venue, with – new this year in every sense – St Andrews University as the second venue.  The matches start on Saturday, 27th October, at both venues.  Gleneagles has pulled out of hosting matches this year but we hope to still be able to play there socially.

Singles / Doubles League 2018

Now into its third year this new league is a great opportunity for team players to play both singles and doubles.  A PDF version of this year’s League fixtures can be obtained by clicking this link: Men’s Singles Doubles League 2018 (V2)

Teams were asked to please contact each other ASAP for first match arrangements and then contact each other on the Friday six days in advance of the next fixture.  Both captains are equally responsible for making contact.  This year there are three division’s in the Men’s section and no teams in the Ladies.

Match start time is 6:15pm.  Match Teas are not required but can be done by arrangement.  A smaller rolling snack-able tea may be preferred by many teams.  This League has its own score card – download by clicking this link :-  Singles League Scorecard 2018

Scorecards are to emailed / sent to [email protected] by the winning team captain for the TT website (as in the Adults leagues) but in the near future results will need to be submitted directly onto LTA website by the captain (as in the Junior league).  For this reason it is important that all players have British Tennis (LTA) membership and are affiliated to the club they are playing for.
